FAN Take – How Powerful Are Video Games?

By Cody Alderton

FAN Take is a series that highlights trending events, issues, and decisions in the world of sports and analyzes how they may or may not factor into the Fan Controlled Football League. We would love to hear your feedback, so let us know what you think about each FAN Take!

The Fan Controlled Football League is quite often referred to as Madden in real life. The reason being, our league is at an intersection of sports, blockchain, and video games. While it was hard to see at first, the evolution in video games, video game-like companies and streaming services to accompany them presents and an incredibly unique opportunity for interactivity and engagement with fans.

An article written by Adweek  looks at just how powerful video games really are. In conjunction with streaming service companies like Twitch, the gaming industry pulled in a whopping $38 billion in revenue last year! Within the gaming industry, we find mostly younger generations who are all communicating in brand new ways. And today, communication through these video games is booming.

Video games and streaming platforms allow individuals to not only watch some of the world’s best players live, but some also allow spectators to influence the game by commenting, participating, and playing along! Put that together with people’s passion for sports, and hype of the crypto community and you get the FCFL! We believe the FCFL will radically change the way we watch and play sports and video games, and we can’t wait for kickoff in 2019!

What aspect of the FCFL are you most excited about?
